Hanging sleeve


Measure the width of the top of your quilt. Cut one or more 20cm (8in) strips and, if necessary, join them to make a single strip to this measurement. Stitch a narrow hem at both ends of the strip. Stitch the strip in half lengthwise with the right sides together, as shown here.

Turn the strip right side out, and press with the seam in the centre. Pin the sleeve across the top of the quilt, with the seam against the quilt. Stitch by hand across the top and bottom edges of the hanging sleeve, as well as the two short ends that are against the quilt back, as shown here.
